Working hard!

Some of the Audi B2's we encountered were working extra hard!

Some nice Audi B1s (older models)

Many more Audi 80's active around southern Greece

Pappous recovers and goes on a trip

To prove its back in action!

Saturday 6 March 2010

"Papous" has a little accident and finds its hard to be old.

A few days ago "Papous" (my old Audi 80) had a little accident, as a car run into its tail section.

Nothing unrepairable, both cars were insured, the other driver accepted his fault, etc, BUT...

...as I was later informed by my insurance agent:

- INSURANCE COMPANIES REFUSE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS, IF THE CAR IS OLD!

- IT IS UNLIKELY THAT THEY WILL PAY THE FULL COST OF REPAIRS BECAUSE THE COST OF REPAIR EXCEEDS THEIR ESTIMATED VALUE OF THE CAR.

- I MAY PAY FOR THE REPAIRS MYSELF AND THEN TAKE THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO COURT TO TRY AND GET MY MONEY BACK (in Greece it could take many years before this case gets to court).

This is totally UNACCEPTABLE, UNETHICAL, and (I hope) ILLEGAL.

I pay full insurance for my 25-year old "papous" Audi, same as a brand new Porsche Cayenne.
If I run into the Cayenne, my insurance company pays fully for the repairs. If it runs on me, I get 300 euros max. How fair is that? And how covered are these other people driving their old Audi 80's (those many I take pictures of), if someone crashes into their cars? What if they can't afford to pay for repairs, or to buy a new car?

I wonder if this is another Greek invention, one of those we are so used to see here. I will try to find out more.

And, of course, I am going to repair "Papous".

More 80's caught on camera

Not a rare picture... Those 25-year olds are everywhere in Greece!
